An Ode to Winter (Is This Really How You Feel?)
This poem was written by a teammate of mine here at SimpleK12. I enjoyed it so much, I couldn't resist sharing it with you all (even though he prefers to remain anonymous).
However, as a born and raised Floridian, I can't say I truly relate to the verses below. So I'm asking for your advice - is this really what it feels like up north? Tell me about your typical winter experience in a comment on this post.

If Dreams Came True
by Anonymous SimpleK12 Team Member
Ice dams in the gutters,
Snow drifting on my car,
A frigid winter morning,
Is the sternest test by far.
As I brew the morning coffee,
Or make hot chocolate to start the day,
The thought of frozen gridlock,
Makes me stall my outward ballet.
“Go outside, you must be kidding!”
I let myself off the hook.
I snuggle up with the paper,
and grab a pleasing book.
My workday is left waiting,
I hope the rising sun brings a thaw.
In the meanwhile my furnace purrs,
Warming my frozen paws.
I long for an end to this condition,
But the storms slug us back to back.
With spring not expected until Easter,
I reset my daily plan of attack.
Pressing the snooze button is automatic,
When that morning buzzer sounds its blare.
If Mother Nature wanted us to be out
We’d all have fur instead of hair!

You know its cold when you walk outside to start your car with wet hair and when you get back to the house, your hair is frozen!
