Two very exciting events are coming up that educators won’t want to miss –EdCamp Citrus and EdCamp NYC, which will both take place on December 4, 2010!  We are so excited for another opportunity to collaborate with teachers in the revolutionizing EdCamp movement that is happening throughout the United States.

We will be donating FREE passes to the EdTech UNconference to both EdCamps.  Additionally, we are attending and helping facilitate EdCamp Citrus!

EdCamp Citrus is holding the first annual gathering of forward-thinking, innovative and engaging education professionals in the Citrus County, FL area.  This UNconference will focus solely on conversations about education, where participants are able to informally share ideas and attend sessions run by colleagues and fellow educators.

At this time, there hasn’t been a designated hotel or discounted room rate for EdCamp NYC attendees.  However, if you are planning on staying in the neighborhood for this exciting session, here are a few suggestions for nearby hotels.

Both EdCamp Citrus and EdCamp NYC are terrific examples of continuing educators who are truly dedicated to working together and improving professional development for teachers by teachers.  There are countless people involved who are helping make these two events possible, contributing to the organization, publicity, sponsorship, and overall, just helping to spread the word.  The SimpleK12 team would like to give a big shout out to EVERYONE who has been a part of these EdCamps.

If you are unable to attend either Edcamp Citrus or NYC but interested in finding other UNconferences, visit the EdCamp website to see if there is one near you!  If there isn’t, now is a great time to organize your own.  If you have already been involved in an EdCamp, please offer advice to other aspiring EdCampers in the comments section below!

Thank you for your sponsorship and for spreading the word about EdCampNYC and EdCampCitrus! It’ll be a great day of education and collaboration and hopefully yield a new partnership between Apples and Oranges. :)

While I’ve been to many UNconferences over the last four years, I loved attending EdCampPhilly in May, 2010. I felt like I learned more at EdCampPhilly than at grad school. I was immediately inspired to bring the same experience to NYC, and it’s been great working with so many old/new friends to make it happen.

    See you in December!
